BALTIMORE — Circleville’s boys have the early lead along with Fairfield Union’s girls after the first night of the Mid-State Leage Buckeye Division Track and Field Championships.
After six events, Circleville has 44 points with Fairfield Union second at 36.5.
FU’s girls have 51 points with Logan Elm second at 50.
Circleville’s boys got the bulk of their scoring in the two throwing events.
In the discus, Liam McConnell had a throw of 167’ 7” to take first and teammate Lamont Holloway was second at 153’ 10”. Third place was more than 16 feet behind (Bloom-Carroll’s Carson Drury at 137’ 2”).
Auri Travis won the shot put with a distance of 50’ 9” and Bryson Coleman was third at 47’ .5”.
Those two events gave the Tigers 34 of their 44 points.
Ray Ezell and Tyler Purdin placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the long jump and Christian Kellough was fourth in the pole vault to round out Circleville’s scoring.

Logan Elm’s Connor Kint had a leap of 20’ 5.75” to win the long jump and placed fifth in the high jump. The crew of Calyx Rhoads, Ayden Hartley, Dane Liggins and Owen Russell teamed up to place second in the 3,200-meter relay to account for LE’s 20 team points.
Dominick Price was the top finisher for Amanda-Clearcreek Tuesday with a third place showing in the high jump.
Gavin Moore, Brodey Lowery, Brylon Ritchie and Braylon Hinton were fourth for the Aces in the 3,200-meter relay while Collin Trego added a point for the Aces with a sixth place showing in the long jump.
In the girls meet, Fairfield Union won the 3,200-meter relay, took second and third in the pole vault, went first and sixth in the shot put, second and fifth in the discus and added a third place showing in the long jump in racking up 51 team points.
For the Braves, Marlo Smith won the discus (110’ 9”) and took second in the shot put (33’ 8”). Elleigh Smith was fifth in the shot (30’ 5/5”).
LE’s Claire King won the pole vault (10’ 6”) and was second in the high jump (4’ 10”). Janie Yingling tied for fourth in the pole vault.
Karina Pantoja added a sixth place showing in the long jump.
Evelyn Sykes, Harper Shonkwiler, Tinley Maxson and Eliana King took second in the 3,200-meter relay.
Channing Riley was Amanda-Clearcreek’s top placer with a third place showing in the shot put (31’ 7”). Riley also was fourth in the discus with Savannah Holley placing sixth in the event.
Kalilah Jarrell placed fourth in the long jump for the Aces and Grace Martin took sixth in the high jump.
AC’s relay team of Olivia Gaal, Bella Metz, Riley Strickler and Kylee Sharp took fourth in the 3,200-meter relay.
Brooklyn Cramer accounted for Circleville’s only points as she placed second in the long jump (15’ 7.5”).
The teams return to Liberty Union High School Friday for the running finals with the action starting at 6 p.m.
