Unioto continues dominance at SVC championships

WILLIAMSPORT — Unioto continued its dominance of the SVC as the Lady Shermans won their seventh straight Scioto Valley Conference track and field title and the boys claimed their fifth trophy in the last seven years.

Unioto’s boys racked up 199 points with Zane Trace second at 122. Host Westfall was seventh. 

In the girls meet, Unioto had 145 points while Adena was second with 116. Westfall was fifth.

Unioto had two boys win in three events. 

Jeremiah Miller won the 1,600 and 800 meters and was part of the top 3,200-meter relay squad.

Tanner Beam won the 100-meter dash and the 300-meter hurdles. He also was part of the champion 1,600-meter relay.

Adena’s Joey Francis had wins in the long jump and 400 meters. He also was second in the 200 and third in the 100 meters.

 Zane Trace’s Sophia Williams was the top performer in the girls’ championships with four wins.

Williams was first in the long jump, the 400 meters and the 800 meters. She also helped her team win the 800-meter relay.

Southeastern’s Karlie Peters had a win in the 300-meter hurdles, was second in the 800, and third in the long jump and 100 meters. 

Westfall’s boys will continue its track season at the Division III district meet at Vinton County High School while the girls are in Division IV and will be competing at Alexander.
