Due to the Circleville football team playing a recent contest against an opponent with a confirmed case of COVID-19, Friday’s football game at Teays Valley has been canceled.
In a release on Thursday from Circleville City Schools, the district said there are no active cases currently within the football team, but that the district, in consultation with Pickaway County Public Health (PCPH), came to the decision to indefinitely postpone all football related activities “out of an abundance of caution”.
“The district fully supports PCPH’s medical advisement and due care for the health and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, and parents,” the release stated. “…We are hopeful our Tigers can resume team activities through safe means in the coming days once students are cleared by a physician, the local health department, and by testing.”
Teays Valley said in a statement that the school is exploring opportunities to schedule another opponent for Friday. Homecoming festivities, which were also scheduled for Friday, will be determined if an opponent can be scheduled.
