Mustangs win two events at Paint Valley

Westfall competed in the Andy Haines Invitational on Thursday night at Paint Valley.

The Mustangs finished seventh in the boys field with 45 points and the girls were eighth with 31 points.

Chillicothe won the 14-school boys meet with 118 points, followed by Jackson (84) and the host Bearcats. The Cavaliers also prevailed in the 14-school girls field with 164.5 points, followed by Adena (78) and Vinton County (61).

Freshman Joey Wright won the pole vault at 10-06 feet, beating his seed by 30 inches.

Henry Barnes was third in the 800 in 4:48.12 and teammate Josh Trapp followed in fourth in 4:53.60.

Junior Caitlyn Shipley won the girls 800 in 2:28.36 and Anay Sierra was second in the 1600 in 5:59.35.

The 800-relay team of Summer Hanson, Marianna Packer, Hope Bryant and Shipley finished third in 1:58.74.

Westfall hosts the Pickaway County championships on Tuesday.
