COLUMBUS — Westfall waited out a morning weather delay and battled through cold, blustery conditions at the Ohio State Gray course Saturday to take eighth place at the Division II golf Championships Saturday.
The Mustangs posted a team score of 365 in Friday’s opening round, under better conditions, and shot a team 372 on Saturday for a 737 total.

Paige Weiss led the Mustangs over the weekend. The junior went 77-76 to post a 153, which tied her for fourth overall and earned her an All-Ohio honor. She took 18 strokes off last year’s championship weekend score.
The team championship was between the top two teams from last year, with the same result. Columbus Academy repeated as the state champ with a two-day score of 620 while Garaway was second at 637.
Bishop Fenwick took third back at 710.
Senior Siena Maschke from Laurel High School (Shaker Heights) was the individual state championship with a (70-73) 143, seven strokes better than second place.
Junior Marianna Packer took 10 strokes off last year’s score to post a (97-94) 191, placing her in a tie for 48th.
Junior Caroline Sever shot a pair of 96s to post a 192, good for 50th.
Freshman Michelle Pickett had a weekend score of 203 (95-108) to finish in a tie for 58th.
Senior Alex Oney took nine strokes off last year’s score to finish with a (107-106) 213. That put her in 67thplace.
The weekend gave Westfall its third-best result in the state championships following a third-place finish in 2012 and taking seventh last year.
