Mustangs second on both sides of SVC

FRANKFORT – Unioto took the top spot in both sides of Saturday’s Scioto Valley Conference cross country championships.

And, in both races, Westfall took second over the course at Adena High School.

In the girls’ race, Unioto had a team score of 29 while Westfall scored 59 and Huntington was third with 61.

In the boys’ race, the Shermans had a score of 36 with the Mustangs scoring 54 and Zane Trace was third with 87.

Unioto sophomore Cameron Walker won the girls’ race in 19:14.0 with Westfall senior Caitlyn Shipley second in 20:13.8. Westfall senior Anay Sierra was fourth with a time of 20:56.4.

Junior Gabby Henry finished 11th for the Mustangs in 22:39.0, freshman Itzel Sierra-Arteaga was 23rd in 26:02.5 and senior Natalie Yates rounded out the scoring placing 26th in 26:42.8.

Westfall freshman Reese Paudicz was 27th in 26:52.1 and Makalie Crabtree finished 29th in 27:37.0.

Seniors took the top three spots in the boys race with Adena’s Ryan Richendollar (16:31.1), Unioto’s Caden Larue (16:42.2) and Zane Trace’s Wyatt Vick (17:31.4) finishing 1-2-3.

Westfall was led by junior Josh Trapp in fifth (17:84.4). Junior Trent Gardner took seventh with a time of 17:54.2 and senior Henry Barnes was 10th in 18:12.8. Sophomore Mason Barnes was 16th in (18:52.3) and junior Nate Wolfe was 23rd in 19:40.2 to round out Westfall’s scoring. 

Also competing for the Mustangs were Kaedin Harrison (26th, 19:48.7), Reid Minor (36th, 21:19.3), Issac Bebb (37th, 21:20), Drew Roberts (38th, 21:34.5), Derick Wallace (46th, 22:17.0), Nick Brooks (49th, 22:53.2), Lance Chalk (53rd, 23:36.9), Haden Rigsby (54th, 23:46.8) and Sam Dunn (67th, 32:02.2).

Team scores:
Girls – Unioto 29; Westfall 59; Huntington 61; Adena 113; Zane Trace 119.
Boys – Unioto 36; Westfall 54; Zane Trace 87; Huntington 103; Paint Valley 122.
