Vikings pick up top seed in Central District D2 as softball brackets announced

The state softball tournament is about to begin and brackets were released Sunday setting up the paths to the state tournament in Akron.

Teays Valley rode its 15-2 record to the No. 1 seed in Division II. Because of the smaller number of schools in divisions I and II, the Vikings’ first tournament game will be a district semifinal against No. 15 Franklin Heights. TV will host that game at 5 p.m. on May 21.

Amanda-Clearcreek (9-11) picked up the No. 8 seed in Division V and will travel to No. 6 Northmor on May 14. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.

Southeast District

Logan Elm (14-3) earned the No. 3 seed in the Southeast District’s Division IV. The Braves will play the winner of No. 6 Gallia Academy and No. 11 Fairfield Union on May 21 at Logan High School.

Circleville (7-11) picked up the 5 seed in Division IV and will host No. 12 Washington CH (1-14) on May 14 with the first pitch set for 5 p.m.

In Division V, Westfall (9-6) is the 8 seed and will host No. 17 Chesapeake (6-13) on May 13 at 5 p.m.
