Westfall advances with five-inning win over Chesapeake

WILLIAMSPORT — Westfall wasted no time in getting out in front of visiting Chesapeake to advance with a 17-0 win in opening round action of the Division V, Southeast District softball tournament.

The No. 8 seed Mustangs pushed 10 runs across in the first inning. Reise Rogers, hitting out of the nine hole, had a bases-loaded double to make it 6-0. Kenzie Cook homered to center field, driving in Gabby Henry, to make it 9-0.

After sending 14 batters to the plate in the first, 10 Mustangs batted in the second as Westfall went up 15-0 over No. 17 Chesapeake.

Adrina Hicks pitched the first two innings for the Mustangs. She struck out one and yielded just one hit. Riley Rigsby pitched the final three innings. She struck out three and allowed three hits.

Five Mustangs had multiple hits the game led by Logan McNeal who had three, including a double.

The Mustangs (12-11) move on to a district semifinal Tuesday at Ohio University. They will play the winner of No. 5 Northwest and No. 20 Minford. Northwest is leading 3-2 in game that was suspended in the top of the second.
