Paige Weiss turned in her best score during a Scioto Valley Conference match so far this season on Wednesday in leading the Westfall Mustangs to another comfortable win at Crown Hill Golf Club.
Weiss turned in a scorecard of 36, which was two strokes better than runner-up Mary Helber of Zane Trace.
Helber made the Westfall junior have to rally to claim her third consecutive medalist honor.
“Paige was actually behind Mary with three holes to play and they went into the last hole, which was No. 13, tied,” Westfall coach Jonathan Barker said. “Paige pared the hole and Mary had a double bogey.”
The Mustangs shot 183 as a team followed by Piketon (209), Unioto (217), Zane Trace (235) and Huntington (284).
Westfall now leads Piketon (24-21) by three points atop the conference standings with four matches to go.

Caroline Sever shot 47, Marianna Packer had 49 and Kathryn Lockhart fired a 51 for the Mustangs. Also playing for the scarlet-and-gray were Michele Pickett (53) and Alexa Oney (59).
“Kathryn cut another stroke off her score and that’s back-to-back personal bests for her, which is nice to see,” Barker said.
The fourth conference match of the season is slated for Monday at Big Beaver Golf Course.
